Mapping Network Drive

After changing servers and setting up a new network path, the second computer on the network will only read data from the new server if the old server is still active on the network. How can the path be found and changed to the new server while bypassing the old server. As soon as the old server is turned off, the data path is lost.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

Sounds like you mapped the new server with a new drive letter. Peachtree was installed using the old Drive letter, so while you can browse to the new server it still is connecting to the shared components on the old server. Either disconnect the old sever drive, the new server drive, and then remap to the new server area using the old drive letter, or uninstall and reinstall to the new server drive.

Mapped new drive or re-installed?

Leland,
Did you map to new drive or did you have to re-install the program to change the drive letter?

Mapping to the new drive, as long as the path beyond the shared folder is identical to the old, will work. In 2013 it uses UNC, so it is not as easy to change and you need to do an uninstall and reinstall at the workstation level.

Unhappy Mapping Network Drive unsuccessful

Program was un-installed from both server and 2nd computer and reinstalled on server FIRST. Program file was specified as C:/Peachtree2011 and data path was C:/Peachtree2011/Company. However, the data was installed under C:/Sage/Peachtree2011/Company/garrassin even though a different folder was specified. Everything works on the server but the install on 2nd machine hiccups when mapping network drive. It see the drive (W) C:/Sage/Peachtree2011/Company/garrassin but gives an error message as follows:

"There is not a valid Peachtree Accounting 2011 centralized company data location on that computer. Either install Peachtree on that computer first or select another computer.
Help says:
You have received this message because you are attempting to select a computer that does not have Peachtree or its database engine installed. If you are installing Peachtree in a network environment, you must install it FIRST at the computer that will store the Peachtree company data files. Please exit the installation at this computer and install Peachtree at the "server" computer first, that is, the computer that will store your Peachtree company data files. Then, return to this machine and install here."

There are 2 choices below the browse area to map the drive:
1. Reconnect at Logon
2. Connect using different creditials.
I have tried to uncheck both, or check either and just keep looping back to the same problem. The error message says, the drive is already mapped but won't let me finish the install.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Utah Carol

You have selected the wrong location for the datapath. You do not select all the way to their individual sub directory, but one above it. The other possibility is that security and sharing is not set properly on where you are mapped to.

Mapping Network Drive unsuccessful

Thanks for your help. I'm still unable to map the drive to connect to the server. Are any of the consultants available for a fee to work on this problem?

Try to map until "C:/Sage" only.
