Can not restore backup on Peachtree Pro acccounting 2010

We lost all our data on a windows 7 computer running peachtree 2010. We have the data backed up on a windows vista laptop. We did the backup from laptop and try to restore to windows 7 desktop and get the following message.

The file you have selected is not a valid Peachtree backup file. Please select another file.

Any help would be much appreciated. We use this program for our small church record system and really need the data restored to desktop since the laptop belongs to an individual.

What form is the backup in? Is it a file, or a folder? Can the company be opened from Peachtree installed on the laptop?

Problem solves

Our problem with restoring a file was caused by having Peachtree pro acct 2010 on our desktop that we needed to back up to and version 2011 on the laptop that the backup was on.

Through help from this site I found out you can not restore from a newer version to an older version.

We got help from Computerized Business Associates and got the 2011 version installed on our desktop. After this installation the backup worked fine and we are back in business.

I found CBA to be a great resource.
