Error reading General File for module 4
When trying to post, we have a peachtree error message that reads: " X Error reading General File for Module 4."
i try a restore from a backup, 3 days old and I get the following: "One or more data files in this company's directroy belong to a different company or have been copied into the directory by mistake. please restore your company data and try again or contact peachtree technical support" I delete all datafiles related to this company and create a new company and then restore the original company over the now created company and I get same error "One or more data files..." What do I do?

Hello,
Hurray! I solved the problem! I am replying to myself so others would know what i did. My client calls showing signs of pressure. I leave my workplace and rush to see him. Original problem : ERROR READING GENERAL FILE FOR MODULE 4 1. I create a new company 2. I restore backup from a previous date and try opening company I now get the following error situation: "One or more data files in this company's directroy belong to a different company or have been copied into the directory by mistake. please restore your company data and try again or contact peachtree technical support" 3. I close peachtree and carry out the folowing steps: - I click start button, then RUN - I type C:\peachw\peachtree.exe - i and OK (This starts peachtree with integrity checker on) 4. I close all companies, and then click File and select Repair Company After repairing company, my client's data is restored. I charge my client $60. It costs me 2 hours. My boss wonders where I was, when I sauntered back into my workplace office, but he is not ready do do without me. Not yet, so he doesnt say a word, maybe I am still too good. I say in my mind, this time I am just lucky!

Thanks for reporting your success. In my experience the Repair function either fixes things, or makes matters worse. Glad it worked out for you!
