Missing Peachtree ini file

We run Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 on two networked windows xp machines.

On one machine, everything appears to be running fine.
On the other machine (the network host), we cannot access the custom invoice forms we have set up with company data. (we used to be able to access these forms from this computer, but now cannot. we have not been able to determine what caused this change.)

I followed other threads here which suggested that I should edit the peachtree ini file (in our case pcw110.ini) to change the data path. Unfortunately, when i went to edit that file on the host computer, i could not find it. In fact I could not find any ini file that appeared as if it might be associated with Peachtree.

Is it possible for the program to run without having an ini file?
Can I just copy the ini file from the working computer over into the host, or should I go through backup files to see if I can find the pcw110.ini file from when it was still working?

Thanks!

The Peachtree PCW110.INI file resides in the Windows folder i.e. C:\Windows or C:\Winnt.

If you were to re-install the Peachtree Complete Accounting 2003 program, this would recreate the PCW110.INI file if applicable.

That is where I first looked for the ini file. Didn't find it there, didn't find it when i did a search of the whole hard drive for p*.ini.

Any suggestions for solutions short of re installing?

Thanks!

Try Start>>Run Type in PCW110.ini

Does the peachtree program start up?
can you open your company?

Wonderful! When i did that it opened, and i was able to edit the data path.

The program had been running, so it seemed likely to me that the file was out there somewhere. Not sure why the file didn't show up in any of my searches, but this seemed to have worked.

Thanks.

Check your windows explorer/ folder options to show all files and folders. If the ini file is in a hidden folder then the normal search engine won't find the file.
